Events in the Community

Strathmore Library is hosting a talk by Lorraine Kneier, a Calgary author, on January 27 at 2PM. Lorraine Kneier, author of Music: A Window to the Soul, believes music is a powerful and lifelong source of energy.. Through her writing and teaching she hopes to convey the ways in which music enhances our awareness of beauty and love. Join Lorraine as she demonstrates how to experience personally the works of cherished composers from all periods of music history. If you have any questions, contact Strathmore's Head Librarian Jesse Traquair at 403-934-5440.

  • October 2008 - Our 3rd Annual Fall Gala took place at the Strathmore Alliance Church.   The comments of Betty Webster describe the evening  -     "The Gala on Wednesday night was wonderful.  For the first time, I fully understood the vision of Hope Bridges Society. When I saw the joy on our children's faces when they performed and watched the show, it touched me deeply.  I was watching the audience and many of them were also experiencing that feeling as well. The tears and laughter really embraced what a wonderful evening it was.  For the first time in many years, my daughter Katy got that spark in her eye that she had during her school years.  Even my shy and quiet Robyn was very excited and looking forward to performing.  I cannot stop telling people what a fabulous show they missed and neither can my family.  The talent in our community and area is incredible.."
  • April 2008 Spring Cards & Flowers workshop at Stamp/Paper/Scissors
  • June 2008 - A website launch party was held at the Holiday Inn in Strathmore.  The event was celebrated with a short video and an informal discussion followed by a champagne toast.
  • October 2007 – 2nd Annual Artists Among Us Fall Gala - Artists Among Us PDF Poster - An event celebrating community diversity, acceptance, and valued citizenship through the arts.
  • Fall of 2007" - Strathmore Theatre Players and Hope Bridges partnered in an inclusive play called Ali Baba.

  • October 2006 - Artists Among Us Fall Gala – an event celebrating community diversity, acceptance and valued citizenship through the arts.
  • Summer 2005 & Summer 2006 Brave Art - a partnership with the Storefront School and under the guidance of Denise Peterson, we initiated a program called Brave Art. This program brought individuals that were diverse in their challenges together with typical youth in a creative art program. What happened in the program was beyond our greatest expectations. The art was overwhelming, the youth had fun and formed natural relationships – it was a microcosm of what could occur in mainstream society. Everyone that took part in the program – leaders and participants – grew in spirit and opportunity.
