Set your goal – then set it higher!
Our goals for the auction were a full house, a good time for all, and to raise $10,000.
Today I’m very pleased to say that on April 16th, the Strathmore Golf Club was packed with standing room only, auctioneer Grant Klaiber ensured (as he always does) that everyone had an enjoyable time; and the icing on the cake – we met and surpassed our fundraising goal!
It was our third annual auction and setting such a high goal felt risky, but we hoped and prepared, and hoped some more!
How did it happen?
Artists and artisans donated art, wine and a beautiful variety of artful creations. Businesses and individuals purchased raffle tickets, placed silent bids and participated enthusiastically in live auction bidding! Hope Bridges’ coordinator Wanda Reinholdt and her assistant Kristie Bremner worked tirelessly planning, organizing and setting plans in motion. Board members and volunteers pitched in before and after the event where helping hands were needed, and the result — a beautifully memorable day.
We need each other
In ‘The Village Effect’, author Susan Pinker writes about the positive effects of belonging to a community. Individuals thrive emotionally, physically and socially when surrounded by others. The bottom line is that people need people!
People came together preparing for, during and after the day of the auction. Similarly, Hope Bridges works daily to create a place where all may belong, create and connect. Imagine what we could accomplish if we worked together in such a way every day!
At Hope Bridges we experience at workshops and special events, that setting goals that may at first seem lofty, can be attainable — and quite possibly kicked out of the park!
Thanks to our community!
Hope Bridges could not have done this without all of you and we extend the most heartfelt Thank You! On that day we experienced a celebration of community and art.
How we use funds raised at the auction
The funds raised will be used to continue offering inclusive adult arts and music activities in Strathmore and surrounding communities. Along with our sincere thanks, we extend to you the promise that we will continue to be excellent stewards of the support you have so kindly offered.
