At Hope Bridges, we don’t just ‘get through’ our chilly Alberta winters. We get through them while meeting new friends, creating unique and beautiful art, sharing our artwork with the community and raising funds for future projects, workshops and events.
Three workshops starting this month
Sing Your High Notes
Kate Ager of JB Music Therapy, has a talent for bringing people together through music and we are fortunate to have Kate facilitate our Sing Your High Notes workshops. Join us and sing tunes that make folks feel like dancing – though it’s fine to listen or play along if you’re not ready to sing! You will experience different rhythms, multi-generational songs and learn that singing is a highlight of the week for participants! There are few things in life as moving as to see an individual blossom under the guidance of a leader who shares her gift with a caring heart, as Kate does!
Time: workshops are on Tuesdays from 1:15 to 2:30 pm
Location: Physio Wing at the Hospital – Brent Blvd Strathmore,
Go Green Upcycling
Join Facilitator Trisha Nelson in Go Green Upcycling. We love seeing the projects Trisha comes up with for each workshop and her ideas are inspired by garage sale and flee market treasures she brings to class. Her favorite projects are a little ‘steam-punk’ with some Victorian influence just for variety! Trisha is largely responsible for the unique pieces of art that make up the Hope Bridges traveling gallery. We welcome you to join us in workshops, so get ready to be inspired! You will not only create something from nearly nothing, you’ll have a useful piece to bring home with you.
Time: workshops are Thursday mornings at 10 AM to Noon
Location: Hope Bridges Studio – Unit 5 104 3rd Avenue, Strathmore
Knitting / Crocheting Folk Art
It doesn’t matter if you’re just learning to knit and crochet, or they’re second nature, this group is for you! Bring your own projects or learn something new, our Facilitator always has new techniques and tips to make your experience better, if that’s even possible! For a couple of hours every other week, we leave winter outside the door, enjoy the new spring colors and creations, and connect with friends who share the love of knitting.
Time: starting January 26, 2016, we meet every other Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.
Location: Strathmore Library – 85 Lakeside Blvd, Strathmore
